I am Yi Yunxuan, a philosophy undergraduate from Jilin University. From early January to mid-February 2023, my 40 classmates from Jilin University and I had a wonderful time learning from professors from Oxford University and Cambridge University.
At the beginning of this summing up, I would like to thank Mr. Perkins and Mr. Ahmed, the two professors who gave us the course, for letting us appreciate the charm of scholars from world-renowned universities. We would also like to thank the teaching assistants for their continuous instruction and academic assistance, and for helping us maintain a good class order.
During this period of study, I fully realized the attitude needed in all aspects of academic research and the academic thinking needed to be cultivated as a researcher through the courses provided by the project.
Through Professor Perkins, I learned some practical methods of academic investigation and academic writing, including some details, such as learning how to make a questionnaire.
By listening to the course taught by Professor Ahmed, I learned how to apply critical thinking concretely: for example, how to think, read and write critically.
These courses have helped me re-examine the problems in my previous approach and thinking towards academic research, and also provided a good guide for my future study and research.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the other four students from the second group, who were very helpful and encouraging to each other during our discussion, preparation of the group presentation, and learning from each other. The relaxed atmosphere within the team encouraged me to a large extent. Although we use online courses for learning, good communication and mutual understanding make me feel that we are closely united rather than separated by thousands of miles.
We would like to thank Jilin University for providing us with this opportunity to participate in the study, as well as the planners and organizers of this course. If the opportunity arises, I would look forward to our next meeting.
