Academic exchanges at Harvard University, USA (9)

author: Xia Keheng Date: 2019-11-13 View:

During the Harvard trip, our team visited, read, and consulted the relevant literature on “Chinese Grassroots Social Studies” at the Cambridge Public Library in Boston, the Harvard University's Widener Library, and the Lamont Library, and conducted group discussions and learning.

Most importantly, we then had an in-depth exchange with Prof. Victor Seow and the Associate Director of Harvard-Yenching Institute. In these discussions, we had a further understanding of the academic view of “carbon bureaucracy”, and also attracted by the unique research ideas and perspectives about the relationship between social transformation and environmental changes.

I have benefited so much from participating in such international high-end academic exchange meetings and field research interviews. On the one hand, by listening to the keynote speeches and keynote reports of experts and scholars, I have not only gained a lot in the accumulation of professional knowledge and the expansion of the subject vision, but also have a deeper understanding of the historical process, theoretical path and direction of China's grassroots social governance.  On the other hand, through further dialogue and exchanges with experts, scholars and team members, while absorbing and admiring the scholars' rigorous academic attitude and insights on the issues, we have deepened our understanding of our own disciplines and strengthened our contemporary responsibility and mission of China's social development.
